AN ACT
1 Amending Title 53 (Municipalities Generally) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for boards and commissions.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Title 53 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6 Statutes is amended by adding a chapter to read:

8 BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
9 Sec.
10 2201. Definitions.
11 2202. Odd-numbered membership.
12 § 2201. Definitions.
13 The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
14 shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
15 context clearly indicates otherwise:
16 "Appointing authority." The individual or entity in a
17 political subdivision that has the power to appoint the members
1 of a board or commission.
2 § 2202. Odd-numbered membership.
3 If a statute or home rule charter establishes a board or
4 commission with an even number of members, the appointing
5 authority shall appoint an additional member.
6 Section 2. All acts and parts of acts are repealed insofar
7 as they are inconsistent with the addition of 53 Pa.C.S. § 2202.
8 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
