AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for payments on
6 account of approved vocational extension classes and
7 preemployment training.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 2507 of the act of March 10, 1949
11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
12 amended August 5, 1991 (P.L.219, No.25), is amended to read:
13 Section 2507. Payments on Account of Approved Vocational
14 Extension Classes and Pre-employment Training.--(a) (1) Every
15 school district and every vocational school district and area
16 vocational-technical school, regardless of classification, shall
17 be paid by the Commonwealth for every school year, on account of
18 approved vocational extension classes and pre-employment
19 training, eighty per cent (80%) of the sum which was expended by
1 the district or area vocational-technical school for the 2 compensation of vocational extension and pre-employment training 3 teachers and supervisors. 4 (2) For the purpose of computing reimbursement, the maximum 5 compensation shall be four dollars ($4.00) per hour for the 6 1985-1986 through the 1989-1990 school years and eight dollars 7 and sixty cents ($8.60) per hour for the 1990-1991 school year 8 and each school year thereafter and the amount expended for 9 supervisory salaries shall not exceed twenty per cent (20%) of 10 the sum expended for teachers' salaries: Provided, That in 11 special cases when travel time or unusual preparation of 12 instructional materials or other factors result in an inadequate 13 compensation, the Department of Education may approve additional 14 reimbursable employment time for such additional services upon 15 the submission of adequate substantiative evidence from the 16 responsible superintendent of schools. 17 (3) For the 1985-1986 school year and each school year 18 thereafter, the Commonwealth shall pay the amount required by 19 this section to the school district or area vocational-technical 20 school which provided the approved vocational extension classes 21 and pre-employment training for which reimbursement is made. 22 (4) Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, this 23 subsection shall not apply to approved vocational extension 24 classes and pre-employment training that are primarily 25 agricultural in nature. 26 (b) (1) Every school district and every vocational school 27 district and area vocational-technical school, regardless of 28 classification, that provide adult agriculture education 29 programs shall be paid by the Commonwealth for the 2007-2008 30 school year and each school year thereafter on account of 20070H0109B0132 - 2 -
1 approved agriculture vocational extension classes and 2 agriculture education pre-employment training, which was 3 expended by the district or area vocational-technical school for 4 the compensation of agricultural vocational extension and 5 agriculture pre-employment training teachers and supervisors. 6 (2) For the purpose of computing reimbursement, the 7 compensation shall be set at a rate of seventeen dollars and 8 ninety-four cents ($17.94) per hour. The amount expended for 9 supervisory salaries shall not exceed twenty per cent (20%) of 10 the sum expended for teachers' salaries: Provided, That in 11 special cases when travel time or unusual preparation of 12 instructional materials or other factors result in an inadequate 13 compensation, the Department of Education may approve additional 14 reimbursable employment time for such additional services upon 15 the submission of adequate substantive evidence from the 16 responsible superintendent of schools. 17 (3) For the 2007-2008 school year and each school year 18 thereafter, the Commonwealth shall pay the amount required by 19 this section to the school district or area vocational-technical 20 school which provided the approved agricultural vocational 21 extension classes and agricultural pre-employment training for 22 which reimbursement is made. 23 Section 2.
