No. 269 Session of 2006


        INTRODUCED BY MADIGAN, BRIGHTBILL, STOUT, WENGER, SCARNATI,
           PIPPY, WAUGH, O'PAKE, CONTI, ROBBINS, CORMAN, REGOLA,
           TARTAGLIONE, EARLL, LOGAN, KASUNIC, LAVALLE, PUNT, RHOADES,
           GREENLEAF, PICCOLA, ARMSTRONG AND PILEGGI, APRIL 5, 2006

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, APRIL 5, 2006

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 16, 2006, as "Rural Road Safety
     2     Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Agriculture is Pennsylvania's number one industry;
     4  and
     5     WHEREAS, Agriculture is dependent on the movement of farm
     6  equipment on rural roads in this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, Farm equipment travels at slower speeds than other
     8  traffic and is often wider than other vehicles; and
     9     WHEREAS, Many drivers are not aware of the possible presence
    10  of farm equipment on roads and the precautions that should be
    11  taken on roads occupied by farm equipment; and
    12     WHEREAS, The number of drivers on rural roads in this
    13  Commonwealth is increasing; and
    14     WHEREAS, It is the intent of the agricultural community to
    15  raise awareness of the use of farm equipment on roads; therefore
    16  be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of April 16,

     1  2006, as "Rural Road Safety Week" in Pennsylvania.
