        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 21, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Expressing condolences on the death of United States Army Staff
     2     Sergeant Daniel L. Arnold.

     3     WHEREAS, United States Army Staff Sergeant Daniel L. Arnold
     4  was killed on September 28, 2005, when an improvised explosive
     5  device exploded under his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle near
     6  Ramadi, Iraq; and
     7     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold was assigned to the Army National
     8  Guard's 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry
     9  Division, New Milford, Pennsylvania; and
    10     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold was a resident of Montrose,


     1  Susquehanna County, and a graduate of Montrose High School; and
     2     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold was a dedicated husband and father
     3  who enjoyed spending time with his sons as well as going on
     4  hunting, fishing and snowmobiling trips with his father-in-law
     5  and brother-in-law; and
     6     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold's devotion to his country was
     7  evidenced at the early age of 17 when he joined the Army; and
     8     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold left for Iraq in June 2005 after
     9  completing six months of training, confident in his belief that
    10  he was doing the right thing; and
    11     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold will be posthumously awarded the
    12  Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge; and
    13     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Arnold is survived by his wife, Kimberly,
    14  and his two children, Devin and Kody; therefore be it
    15     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express
    16  condolences on the death of United States Army Staff Sergeant
    17  Daniel L. Arnold and honor his devotion to his family and
    18  country; and be it further
    19     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    20  the family of the late Staff Sgt. Daniel L. Arnold.
