HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 198 Session of 2005


        INTRODUCED BY WASHINGTON, BISHOP, BEBKO-JONES, CALTAGIRONE,
           JAMES, JOSEPHS, DALEY, HERSHEY, PISTELLA AND THOMAS,
           MARCH 29, 2005

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON STATE GOVERNMENT, MARCH 29, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging automatic reinstatement of voter registration upon
     2     completion of sentence.

     3     WHEREAS, When persons are convicted of a felony, their voting
     4  registration is suspended by the Registrar of Voters; and
     5     WHEREAS, These persons' voting rights should be automatically
     6  reinstated upon completion of their sentence; and
     7     WHEREAS, Correctional institutions or probation and parole
     8  entities should provide the Registrar of Voters documentation
     9  showing that these persons are no longer under an order of
    10  imprisonment; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the
    12  Registrar of Voters to reinstate all voting privileges to
    13  convicted felons upon completion of their sentence.
