AN ACT
1 Imposing a duty on the Department of Health to provide bone
2 marrow and living organ donor education.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Bone marrow and living organ donor education.
6 (a) Content of program.--The Department of Health shall
7 provide information and education to the residents of this
8 Commonwealth about bone marrow and living organ donation which
9 shall include:
10 (1) The need for donors and benefits to the recipient.
11 (2) The medical procedures donors must undergo.
12 (3) The process by which a potential donor becomes
13 registered.
14 (4) Special efforts to educate and recruit minority
15 populations to volunteer as potential bone marrow and living
16 organ donors.
17 (b) Means of communication.--Means of communication shall
1 include, but not be limited to, the placement of educational
2 material in State photo licensing centers, health care
3 facilities, blood banks and State agencies.
4 Section 2. Effective date.
5 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
