                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating the bridge to carry State Route 68 over the
     2     Allegheny River from East Brady Borough, Clarion County, to
     3     Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, as the Spc. Carl F.
     4     Curran II Memorial Bridge.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7  Section 1.  Spc. Carl F. Curran II Memorial Bridge.
     8     (a)  Legislative findings.--The General Assembly finds and
     9  declares as follows:
    10         (1)  Army Specialist Carl F. Curran II was assigned to
    11     Battery C, 1st Battalion, 107th Field Artillery Regiment,
    12     Army National Guard in Oil City, Pennsylvania. He was killed
    13     while serving his country on May 16, 2005, when his vehicle
    14     hit an improvised explosive device in Karmah, Iraq.


     1         (2)  Mr. Curran was a devoted and loving husband to his
     2     wife Dianna and father to his infant daughter Lillian. He
     3     served his community and was a member of the St. Patrick
     4     Roman Catholic Church in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong
     5     County. He was also an active member of the American Legion
     6     Post 488.
     7     (b)  Designation.--The bridge currently under construction
     8  that will carry State Route 68 over the Allegheny River from
     9  East Brady, Clarion County, to Brady's Bend Township in
    10  Armstrong County is designated as the "Spc. Carl F. Curran II
    11  Memorial Bridge."
    12     (c)  Signage.--The Department of Transportation shall be
    13  responsible for erecting and maintaining signs displaying the
    14  designation under subsection (b) at both ends of the bridge upon
    15  its completion.
    16  Section 2.  Effective date.
    17     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
