                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of December 7, 1990 (P.L.615, No.156), entitled
     2     "An act providing for official visitation of prisons,"
     3     further providing for the definition of "official visitor".

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 2 of the act of December 7, 1990
     7  (P.L.615, No.156), known as the Official Visitation of Prisons
     8  Act, is amended to read:
     9  Section 2.  Definitions.
    10     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
    11  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    12  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    13     "Official visitor."  The Governor, Lieutenant Governor,
    14  President pro tempore and members of the Senate, Speaker and
    15  members of the House of Representatives, justices and judges of
    16  the courts of record, General Counsel, Attorney General and his
    17  deputies, and authorized members of the Pennsylvania Prison
    18  Society who have been designated as official visitors, whose

     1  names shall be given to the correctional official in charge of
     2  the appropriate facility, in writing, together with the terms of
     3  their appointment under its corporate seal. The term shall also
     4  include one person designated as an official visitor by each of
     5  the following: the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, President pro
     6  tempore and members of the Senate, and Speaker and members of
     7  the House of Representatives. Such designation shall be made in
     8  writing, given to the Secretary of Corrections and remain in
     9  effect until the earlier of its written revocation by the
    10  designator or the expiration of the designator's term of office.
    11     "Secretary."  The Secretary of Corrections of the
    12  Commonwealth.
    13     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
