        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
           JUNE 19, 2006

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further prohibiting dogs from pursuing, injuring or
     3     killing big game.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 2382 2383 of Title 34 of the Pennsylvania  <--
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 2383.  Dogs pursuing, injuring or killing big game.
     9     [It] (a)  General rule.--Except as otherwise set forth in
    10  subsection (b), it is unlawful for any person to make use of a
    11  dog in any manner to hunt for or to take big game or to permit a
    12  dog owned, controlled or harbored by that person to pursue,
    13  harass, chase, scatter, injure or kill any big game.
    14     (b)  Exception.--Subject to ONLY AFTER regulations             <--
    15  promulgated by the commission, a person who owns, controls or
    16  harbors a single dog that is maintained on a leash at all times
    17  may use the dog to track big game, excluding turkey, that have

     1  been killed or wounded by another person who is engaged in        <--
     2  lawful hunting of such big game WOUNDED. The person or anyone     <--
     3  who accompanies the person using the dog to track such big game
     4  may not possess a firearm or implement capable of injuring or     <--
     5  killing such big game ONLY DURING AUTHORIZED HUNTING HOURS AND    <--
     6  USING ONLY SUCH FIREARM OR IMPLEMENT AS AUTHORIZED BY THE
     7  COMMISSION.
     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
