AN ACT
1 Amending Titles 24 (Education) and 71 (State Government) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for cost-of-
3 living adjustments for retirees.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 24 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 8348.8. Cost of living.
9 In addition to all other benefits under this subchapter, an
10 annuitant shall receive an annual cost-of-living adjustment
11 calculated in the same manner as the cost-of-living adjustment
12 in section 3(e) of the act of September 30, 1983 (P.L.160,
13 No.39), known as the Public Official Compensation Law.
1 Section 2. Title 71 is amended by adding a section to read:
2 § 5708.9. Cost of living.
3 In addition to all other benefits under this subchapter, an
4 annuitant shall receive an annual cost-of-living adjustment
5 calculated in the same manner as the cost-of-living adjustment
6 in section 3(e) of the act of September 30, 1983 (P.L.160,
7 No.39), known as the Public Official Compensation Law.
8 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005, or
9 immediately, whichever is later.
