A RESOLUTION 1 Commending the members of the Pennsylvania Cancer Control 2 Consortium for their leadership in the development of the 3 Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. 4 WHEREAS, The Department of Health works with national, State 5 and community partners to improve the health of all 6 Pennsylvanians; and 7 WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has 8 challenged each state to eliminate suffering and death due to 9 cancer by the year 2015; and 10 WHEREAS, Each year approximately 70,000 Pennsylvanians are 11 diagnosed with cancer; and 12 WHEREAS, The Department of Health has initiated an 13 unprecedented partnership to develop the first-ever 14 Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan for the Commonwealth; and 15 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Cancer Control Consortium comprises 16 representatives from State government, universities, cancer 17 centers, hospitals, health coalitions and community
1 organizations; and 2 WHEREAS, Formed by the Department of Health to provide 3 leadership and foster collaboration on cancer prevention, 4 detection and treatment, the Pennsylvania Cancer Control 5 Consortium has adopted a mission to work together to reduce the 6 burden of cancer in this Commonwealth; and 7 WHEREAS, The membership of the Pennsylvania Cancer Control 8 Consortium is fully committed to advancing the mission, goals 9 and objectives set forth in the Pennsylvania Comprehensive 10 Cancer Control Plan; therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That the Senate commend the members of the 12 Pennsylvania Cancer Control Consortium for their bold leadership 13 in the development of the Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan to 14 reduce the burden of cancer in this Commonwealth.
