                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 18 through 24, 2004, as "Volunteer
     2     Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The spirit of volunteerism has been a longstanding
     4  tradition in this Commonwealth; and
     5     WHEREAS, The history of this great Commonwealth and our
     6  nation reflects the efforts of individuals who gave of
     7  themselves for no other reason than the satisfaction of helping
     8  others; and
     9     WHEREAS, Volunteers put the special needs and interests of
    10  others before their own to better the world and improve the
    11  quality of life for others; and
    12     WHEREAS, Their tremendous endeavors brighten the minds and

     1  hearts of those people whom they help; and
     2     WHEREAS, These selfless individuals receive rewards far
     3  greater than any monetary compensation; and
     4     WHEREAS, Their service, friendship, skills and actions enrich
     5  the lives of many people; and
     6     WHEREAS, Across this Commonwealth, individuals are becoming
     7  active volunteers in their communities and are accomplishing
     8  great tasks while helping others; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    10  week of April 18 through 24, 2004, as "Volunteer Week" in
    11  Pennsylvania.
