INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, FEBRUARY 9, 2004
A RESOLUTION 1 Proclaiming March 1, 2004, as "America's Huey 091 Day" in 2 Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Bell helicopter type UH-1, serial number 65-10091 4 was manufactured and delivered to the United States Army in 5 1965; and 6 WHEREAS, This flying machine was placed in combat use in 7 Vietnam thereafter; and 8 WHEREAS, This aircraft, known affectionately to all who 9 served with her as "Huey 091," was battle damaged no less than 10 three times, the last resulting in her removal from inventory; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, This fighting aircraft has been fully restored and 13 is being presented to the Smithsonian Institution's National 14 Museum of American History for permanent inclusion in its 15 upcoming exhibition which will open Veterans Day, November 11, 16 2004, chronicling our nation's wars, titled "The Price of 17 Freedom"; and
1 WHEREAS, This historic aircraft is landing in the City of 2 Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, for a goodwill visit 3 on March 1, 2004; and 4 WHEREAS, The Huey has a distinguished history of service to 5 central Pennsylvania in times of emergency, including, but not 6 limited to, the floods of 1972 and the crisis at Three Mile 7 Island in 1979, at which times Hueys, deployed for a variety of 8 purposes, distinguished themselves in every regard and 9 particularly in the saving of lives; therefore be it 10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim March 1, 11 2004, as "America's Huey 091 Day" in Pennsylvania.
