A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the contribution of Greek Macedonia to the world and 2 the contributions of Americans of Greek Macedonian descent to 3 the nation and this Commonwealth. 4 WHEREAS, Phillip of Macedon, Alexander the Great and 5 Aristotle were born and raised in Macedonia, a northern province 6 of ancient Greece; and 7 WHEREAS, The language and culture of the ancient Macedonians, 8 the ancestors of the inhabitants of modern northern Greece, were 9 Hellenic; and 10 WHEREAS, The Macedonians believed in the Olympian deities and 11 participated in the original Olympic games; and 12 WHEREAS, The Pan-Macedonian Society of Philadelphia, based in 13 Upper Darby in Delaware County, has been an integral part of the 14 Greek-American community throughout the Delaware Valley for over
1 50 years; and 2 WHEREAS, The society has worked diligently to integrate 3 Hellenic and Macedonian ideals into American and Pennsylvania 4 citizenship; therefore be it 5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 6 contribution of Greek Macedonia to the world and the 7 contributions of Americans of Greek Macedonian descent to the 8 nation and this Commonwealth.
