        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 25, 2003

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Expressing condolences to those persons affected by the fire at
     2     The Station in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

     3     WHEREAS, On Thursday, February 20, 2003, fire destroyed The

     1  Station in West Warwick, Rhode Island; and
     2     WHEREAS, The Station fire has claimed the lives of at least
     3  97 people and has injured many other nightclub attendees; and
     4     WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
     5  and its citizens are deeply affected by the fire, the recovery
     6  and the loss of lives; and
     7     WHEREAS, The citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are
     8  saddened by the tragic fire and join Rhode Island citizens in
     9  mourning the lives lost; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    11  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania extend sympathy to the families and
    12  friends of the victims of The Station fire; and be it further
    13     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    14  the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the
    15  House of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations at
    16  State House, Providence, RI 02903.
