        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, FEBRUARY 11, 2003

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the House of Representatives to join the Northeast
     2     Legislative Association on Prescription Drug Prices.

     3     WHEREAS, The purpose of the Northeast Legislative Association
     4  on Prescription Drug Prices is to make prescription drugs more
     5  affordable and accessible to people in the northeastern United
     6  States, especially by reducing prescription drug prices; and
     7     WHEREAS, In working to achieve its purpose, the association
     8  will:
     9         (1)  Serve as a clearinghouse for research and
    10     information on matters relating to the pricing of
    11     prescription drugs.
    12         (2)  Provide a forum for the discussion, development and
    13     coordination of public policy strategies to reduce
    14     prescription drug prices.
    15         (3)  Encourage and support the enactment of legislation

     1     to reduce prescription drug prices.
     2         (4)  Initiate and coordinate communication with members
     3     of the Congress of the United States and with Federal
     4     agencies to promote Federal laws and policies to reduce
     5     prescription drug prices.
     6         (5)  Provide a forum for the discussion and development
     7     of any other public policies and strategies that may provide
     8     greater access to pharmacy benefits at a fair price.
     9         (6)  Urge development and enhancement of Federal and
    10     State insurance assistance programs offering prescription
    11     drug coverage;
    12  therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives join the
    14  Northeast Legislative Association on Prescription Drug Prices.
