                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for Pennsylvania Irish Caucus
     3     registration plates and for the Irish Famine Memorial Fund to
     4     renovate war memorials.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     9  § 1361.  Pennsylvania Irish Caucus plate.
    10     The department, in consultation with the Irish Legislative
    11  Caucus of Pennsylvania, shall design a special Pennsylvania
    12  Irish Caucus registration plate. Upon application of any person,
    13  accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition to the
    14  annual registration fee, the department shall issue the plate
    15  for a passenger car or truck with a gross vehicle weight rating


     1  of not more than 9,000 pounds. The Irish Famine Memorial Fund
     2  shall receive $15 of the fee paid by the applicant for the
     3  plate.
     4     Section 2.  Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a
     5  subsection to read:
     6  § 1905.  Payments to special funds.
     7     * * *
     8     (d)  Irish Famine Memorial Fund.--Fifteen dollars of each fee
     9  received under section 1361 (relating to Pennsylvania Irish
    10  Caucus plate) shall be credited to the Irish Famine Memorial
    11  Fund, created as follows:
    12         (1)  There is hereby established a special account in the
    13     State Treasury which shall be known as the Irish Famine
    14     Memorial Fund. The purpose of the Irish Famine Memorial Fund
    15     is for the establishment, restoration or renovation of
    16     memorials and for conducting commemorative activities to
    17     honor persons who suffered in the Irish famine.
    18         (2)  All moneys in the Irish Famine Memorial Fund are
    19     hereby annually appropriated to the Irish Legislative Caucus
    20     of Pennsylvania to be expended by authorized municipalities
    21     and social organizations, upon application, approved for the
    22     purposes of this subsection.
    23         (3)  Estimates of amounts to be expended under this
    24     subsection shall be submitted to the Governor by the Irish
    25     Legislative Caucus of Pennsylvania for his approval.
    26         (4)  The State Treasurer shall not honor any requisition
    27     for expenditures by the Irish Legislative Caucus of
    28     Pennsylvania in excess of estimates approved by the Governor
    29     or in excess of the amount available for the purposes for
    30     which the requisition was made, whichever is the lesser

     1     amount.
     2     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
