AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for the rendering of aid to animals
3 involved in accidents.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 3742.2. Accidents involving animals.
9 (a) General rule.--The driver of any vehicle involved in an
10 accident resulting in injury or death of an animal shall offer
11 reasonable medical, veterinary or other assistance to aid the
12 animal. Reasonable assistance may include good-faith attempts to
13 locate the animal's owner, notification of appropriate
14 authorities, such as the Pennsylvania Game Commission, police or
15 local dog warden, or transportation to a location to obtain
16 veterinary assistance.
17 (b) Penalties.--A person violating this section commits a
1 summary offense and shall, upon conviction, pay a maximum fine
2 of $50.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
