                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing October 2002 as "Energy Awareness Month."

     2     WHEREAS, Americans need a reliable, continuous supply of
     3  affordable, environmentally-friendly energy to ensure an
     4  economically stable future; and
     5     WHEREAS, Americans need to reduce reliance on foreign energy
     6  production and promulgate domestic production during these
     7  internationally insecure times; and
     8     WHEREAS, Becoming more self-reliant on domestic energy
     9  production would also help our foreign suppliers maintain the
    10  longevity of their own natural resource reserves; and
    11     WHEREAS, Nonrenewable energy sources are ultimately limited,
    12  and it is in the best interest of a secure future for our nation
    13  to encourage generation of renewable energy while practicing
    14  sustainable conservation of nonrenewable supplies; and
    15     WHEREAS, Educating the general public regarding energy
    16  efficiency and the use of renewable resources is a key component
    17  to energy conservation and the wise use of available or

     1  potential energy supplies; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
     3  Pennsylvanians to recognize October 2002 as "Energy Awareness
     4  Month" and to observe this month with appropriate educational
     5  programs and activities.
