INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, SEPTEMBER 10, 2002
A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring September 11, 2002, as "Emergency Responder 2 Recognition Day" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical 4 services personnel, collectively referred to as "emergency 5 responders," risk their lives every day to protect life and 6 property in communities across this great Commonwealth; and 7 WHEREAS, The citizens of this Commonwealth benefit daily from 8 the services, knowledge and skills of emergency responders who 9 endure stressful, dangerous and hazardous conditions so they may 10 protect lives and offer security to others; and
1 WHEREAS, In recent history, we have been reacquainted with 2 the heroic deeds of emergency responders as this nation 3 witnessed the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the 4 United States of America; and 5 WHEREAS, The tremendous loss of police officer and 6 firefighter lives on this day indeed serves as a reminder that 7 Pennsylvania's heroic emergency responders may have to endure 8 the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the citizens they are sworn 9 to protect and serve; therefore be it 10 RESOLVED, That in honor of the bravery, courage and 11 determination of police officers, firefighters and emergency 12 medical services personnel, the House of Representatives declare 13 September 11, 2002, as "Emergency Responder Recognition Day" in 14 Pennsylvania.
