        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 6, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming June 1, 2002, as "Kids' Day" in Pennsylvania.

     2     WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognizes that the
     3  future of this Commonwealth is in the minds, hearts and spirit
     4  of its children; and
     5     WHEREAS, Many families today find it increasingly difficult
     6  to spend adequate time together; and
     7     WHEREAS, Parents and children need to spend time together in
     8  order to adequately nurture children; and
     9     WHEREAS, The children of today will be the leaders of
    10  tomorrow; and
    11     WHEREAS, The beginning of June represents that time when our

     1  children are leaving school for the summer; and
     2     WHEREAS, It is only appropriate and good that our communities
     3  honor and celebrate our children on a special day, a "Kids'
     4  Day"; and
     5     WHEREAS, The Borough of Downingtown and the Downingtown Main
     6  Street program honor the children of the area by providing a day
     7  of family fun, education and entertainment on the first Saturday
     8  of June; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives hereby proclaim
    10  June 1, 2002, as "Kids' Day" in Pennsylvania.
