AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for special speed limitations.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 3365(b) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
6 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
7 § 3365. Special speed limitations.

9 (b) School zones.--
10 (1) When passing a school zone as defined and
11 established under regulations of the department or when
12 passing a registered day-care or preschool facility, no
13 person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 15 miles
14 per hour. An official traffic-control device shall indicate
15 the beginning and end of each school zone to traffic
16 approaching in each direction. Establishment of a school
17 zone, including its location and hours of operation, shall be
1 approved by the department.
2 (2) The roadway immediately approaching, from either
3 direction, a registered day-care or preschool facility may be
4 deemed a school zone.
5 (3) As used in this subsection, the term "registered
6 day-care or preschool facility" means a facility which:
7 (i) Is in current operation.
8 (ii) Has registered its name, location, telephone
9 number and operator's name in the office of the
10 municipality where it is located.
11 (iii) Provides for the supervised care or education
12 of children who are 13 years of age or younger.

14 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
