AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for an Independence National Historical 3 Park registration plate; establishing the Independence 4 National Historical Park Fund; and further providing for the 5 duties of the Department of Community and Economic 6 Development. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 10 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 11 § 1361. Independence National Historical Park plate. 12 The department, in consultation with Eastern National and the 13 Independence National Historical Park of the United States 14 National Park Service, shall design an Independence National 15 Historical Park registration plate. Upon application of any 16 person, accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition 17 to the annual registration fee, the department shall issue the 18 plate for a passenger car, motor home, trailer or truck with a
1 registered gross vehicle weight of not more than 9,000 pounds. 2 The Independence National Historical Park Fund shall receive $15 3 of each additional fee for this plate. 4 Section 2. Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a 5 subsection to read: 6 § 1905. Payments to special funds. 7 * * * 8 (d) Independence National Historical Park Fund.--Fifteen 9 dollars of each fee received under section 1361 (relating to 10 Independence National Historical Park plate) shall be credited 11 to the Independence National Historical Park Fund, created as 12 follows: 13 (1) There is hereby established a special account in the 14 Treasury Department which shall be known as the Independence 15 National Historical Park Fund. The purpose of the 16 Independence National Historical Park Fund is to assist and 17 support educational programs sponsored through the park's 18 history education center, known as the Independence Park 19 Institute, which promotes tourism and educates visitors on 20 the founding of this nation at Independence Hall in 21 Philadelphia in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 22 (2) All moneys in the Independence National Historical 23 Park Fund are hereby annually appropriated to the Department 24 of Community and Economic Development and may be expended for 25 the purposes authorized under this subsection. 26 (3) Estimates of amounts to be expended under this 27 subsection shall be submitted to the Governor by the 28 Department of Community and Economic Development for his 29 approval. 30 (4) The State Treasurer shall not honor any requisition 20010H1776B2271 - 2 -
1 for expenditures by the Department of Community and Economic 2 Development in excess of estimates approved by the Governor 3 or in excess of the amount available for the purposes for 4 which the requisition was made, whichever is the lesser 5 amount. 6 Section 3.
