                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for the retention
     6     of records.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 518 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
    10  No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, amended June
    11  17, 1982 (P.L.525, No.149), is amended to read:
    12     Section 518.  Retention of Records.--Every board of school
    13  directors shall retain as a permanent record of the district,
    14  the minute book, each annual auditor's report, and each annual
    15  financial report. All other financial records of the district,
    16  including financial account books, orders, bills, contracts,
    17  invoices, receipts, and purchase orders shall be retained by the
    18  district for a period of not less than six years. Records may be
    19  retained as [photographed, microphotographed or microfilmed


     1  copies] recorded or copied in accordance with [the act of
     2  January 18, 1968 (1967 P.L.961, No.428), known as the "Municipal
     3  Records Act."] 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 13 Subch. F (relating to records).
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
