AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for Pennsylvania Irish Caucus 3 registration plates and for a fund to renovate war memorials. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 8 § 1361. Pennsylvania Irish Caucus plate. 9 The department, in consultation with the Irish Legislative 10 Caucus of Pennsylvania, shall design a special Pennsylvania 11 Irish Caucus registration plate. Upon application of any person, 12 accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition to the 13 annual registration fee, the department shall issue the plate 14 for a passenger car or truck with a gross vehicle weight rating 15 of not more than 9,000 pounds. 1 shall receive $15 of the fee paid by the applicant for the 2 plate. 3 Section 2. Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a 4 subsection to read: 5 § 1905. Payments to special funds. 6 * * * 7 (d) Irish Famine Memorial Fund.--Fifteen dollars of each fee 8 received under section 1361 (relating to Pennsylvania Irish 9 Caucus plate) shall be credited to the Irish Famine Memorial 10 Fund, created as follows: 11 (1) There is hereby established a special account in the 12 State Treasury which shall be known as the Irish Famine 13 Memorial Fund. The purpose of the Irish Famine Memorial Fund 14 is for the establishment, restoration or renovation of 15 memorials and for conducting commemorative activities to 16 honor persons who suffered in the Irish famine. 17 (2) All moneys in the Irish Famine Memorial Fund are 18 hereby annually appropriated to the Irish Legislative Caucus 19 of Pennsylvania to be expended by authorized municipalities 20 and social organizations, upon application, approved for the 21 purposes of this subsection. 22 (3) Estimates of amounts to be expended under this 23 subsection shall be submitted to the Governor by the Irish 24 Legislative Caucus of Pennsylvania for his approval. 25 (4) The State Treasurer shall not honor any requisition 26 for expenditures by the Irish Legislative Caucus of 27 Pennsylvania in excess of estimates approved by the Governor 28 or in excess of the amount available for the purposes for 29 which the requisition was made, whichever is the lesser 30 amount. 20010H1028B1173 - 2 -
