                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     seat of court and for local chamber facilities.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 504, 543, 563(b) and 3703 of Title 42 of
     7  the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
     8  § 504.  Seat of court.
     9     (a)  Regular sessions.--The regular sessions of the Supreme
    10  Court shall be held in [the facility specified in section 3701
    11  (relating to Pennsylvania Judicial Center)] Harrisburg and
    12  elsewhere as [prescribed by general rule] provided in subsection
    13  (b).
    14     (b)  Other sessions.--Within the limits of available
    15  appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from
    16  time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or
    17  both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of
    18  this Commonwealth if suitable courtroom and related physical

     1  facilities are made available without cost to the Commonwealth.
     2  § 543.  Seat of court.
     3     (a)  Regular sessions.--The regular sessions of the Superior
     4  Court shall be held at the [cities] city of Harrisburg[,
     5  Philadelphia and Pittsburgh] and elsewhere as [prescribed by
     6  general rule or rule of court] provided in subsection (b).
     7     (b)  Other sessions.--Within the limits of available
     8  appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from
     9  time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or
    10  both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of
    11  this Commonwealth if suitable courtroom and related physical
    12  facilities are made available without cost to the Commonwealth.
    13  § 563.  Seat of court.

    15     (b)  Other sessions.--Within the limits of available
    16  appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from
    17  time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or
    18  both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of
    19  this Commonwealth as make available without cost to the
    20  Commonwealth suitable courtroom and related physical facilities.
    21  [The court shall also sit in the cities of Philadelphia and
    22  Pittsburgh.]
    23  § 3703.  Local chamber facilities.
    24     The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts shall
    25  furnish for each judge of the appellate courts of this
    26  Commonwealth chamber facilities in the county in which such
    27  judge resides in conformity with general rules for such judge
    28  and [the] one personal [staff] secretary of such judge from
    29  funds annually appropriated by the General Assembly.
    30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002, or in 12
