A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania as an outstanding 2 corporate citizen in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Throughout its 100-year history as a utility in this 4 Commonwealth, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania has demonstrated a 5 commitment to the communities it serves with outstanding 6 employee volunteerism and philanthropic giving; and 7 WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania was the first 8 corporation to step forward with both monetary and long-term 9 employee volunteer support to restore and adopt a monument, the 10 Eternal Peace Light Memorial, at Gettysburg National Military 11 Park; and 12 WHEREAS, In 1998 Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania created "Front 13 Row!" which is an art education collaborative that brought 14 together six major Pittsburgh arts organizations to deliver arts
1 education programs to the schools in Beaver County; and 2 WHEREAS, In fall 2000 the "Front Row!" program will be 3 extended to reach the students in Washington County; and 4 WHEREAS, In May 2000 Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania's "Front 5 Row!" program and Gettysburg initiative received the national 6 Wilmer Shields Rich Gold and Silver Awards, respectively, for 7 Outstanding Public Information Program from the Council on 8 Foundations; and 9 WHEREAS, The company has championed other successful programs 10 such as the Roberto Clemente Foundation, to which Columbia Gas 11 of Pennsylvania has donated more than $50,000 and hundreds of 12 hours of employees' time since 1996 to provide organized sports, 13 mentoring and educational programs for at-risk youth; and 14 WHEREAS, The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania inducted 15 Columbia Gas into its Hall of Fame in February 2000 in 16 recognition of the longstanding and continuing success of the 17 company's corporate campaign and leadership; and 18 WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania remains committed to 19 the communities it serves; therefore be it 20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize 21 Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania as an outstanding corporate citizen 22 in Pennsylvania.
