A RESOLUTION
1 Congratulating the members and the coaching staff of the Nittany
2 Lions fencing team on winning the NCAA National Fencing
3 Championship.
4 WHEREAS, The Penn State Nittany Lions fencing team recently
5 won the NCAA National Fencing Championship; and
6 WHEREAS, The Nittany Lions' valiant efforts in holding off
7 the challenges of St. John's and Notre Dame enabled them to
8 capture their sixth consecutive NCAA championship title; and
9 WHEREAS, This year's efforts mark the fencing team's eighth
10 NCAA championship title in the last 11 years; and
11 WHEREAS, Sophomore Daniel Landgren won Penn State's second
12 individual title of the NCAA finals; and
13 WHEREAS, Junior Aaron Stuewe's efforts earned him a spot on
14 the All-American fencing team for the third straight year; and
15 WHEREAS, The fencing efforts of Penn State's women's team
16 provided the Lions with a 23-point lead over St. John's heading
17 into the weekend contests; and
18 WHEREAS, Jessica Burke highlighted the Lady Lions' showing by
1 winning the individual epee championship; and
2 WHEREAS, Senior women's captain Carla Esteva and junior
3 Charlotte Walker both earned All-American honors for their
4 efforts; therefore be it
5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
6 coaching staff and all of the members of the Penn State Nittany
7 Lions fencing team.
