INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 20, 2000
A RESOLUTION 1 Designating April 16 through 22, 2000, as "Grange Week" and May 2 8, 2000, as "Grange Day" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The Grange is a leader in agriculture, and community 4 and family affairs; and 5 WHEREAS, The Grange provides the opportunity for individual 6 expression and personal growth; and 7 WHEREAS, The Grange promotes grassroots involvement of its 8 members in the legislative process; and 9 WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians take great pride in their rich 10 agricultural heritage. Pennsylvania's international reputation
1 for quality agricultural products was earned through generations 2 of hard work and dedication by its proud Pennsylvania farm 3 families; and 4 WHEREAS, The Grange celebrates its 127 years of service under 5 the creed of people, pride and progress; and 6 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Grange has remained dedicated 7 to improving farming and rural life for all Pennsylvanians. 8 Grange efforts to support agriculture, education, 9 transportation, tax reform, rural development and health care 10 have all reinforced the Grange members' leadership role in the 11 community; and 12 WHEREAS, Committed to the ethic of honest labor and willing 13 service, the Pennsylvania State Grange has helped to sustain the 14 quality of life enjoyed by our Commonwealth's rural citizens; 15 and 16 WHEREAS, The Grange's current theme: "A New Century - A New 17 Grange" emphasizes the value of families and our commitment to 18 their well-being; therefore be it 19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim April 16 20 through 22, 2000, as "Grange Week" for the opportunity for 21 Grange members to rededicate themselves to personal growth, 22 service to others and the strengthening of today's family and 23 its future generations; and be it further 24 RESOLVED, That in recognition of the Grange's contributions 25 to the growth, development and improvement of agriculture and 26 rural communities, the House of Representatives proclaim May 8, 27 2000, as "Grange Day" in Pennsylvania and encourage all citizens 28 to acknowledge and applaud the achievements of the Pennsylvania 29 State Grange.
