        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 25, 1999

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing October 1999 as "Local Chamber of Commerce Month" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Governor Thomas J. Ridge has proclaimed the month of
     4  October 1999 as "Local Chamber of Commerce Month" in
     5  Pennsylvania; and
     6     WHEREAS, Business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals
     7  throughout this Commonwealth have demonstrated a true concern
     8  for the welfare of all citizens and have worked diligently to
     9  ensure Pennsylvania's economic prosperity for future
    10  generations; and
    11     WHEREAS, In this Commonwealth, 240 local chambers of
    12  commerce, representing more than 250,000 businesses, work with
    13  dedication and pride to promote business, community and the
    14  well-being of all Commonwealth citizens; and
    15     WHEREAS, These independent, nonprofit chambers are made up of
    16  individuals and organizations united to advance the commercial,
    17  financial, industrial and civic interests of this Commonwealth;

     1  and
     2     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania remains firm in its commitment to
     3  forming partnerships which draw upon the best that business,
     4  labor, education and government have to offer, and our local
     5  chambers of commerce contribute to the fulfillment of that goal
     6  and this Commonwealth's continued economic growth and
     7  advancement; and
     8     WHEREAS, It is important for the residents and businesses of
     9  our great Commonwealth to recognize and appreciate the countless
    10  contributions local chambers of commerce have made to enhancing
    11  the quality of our lives; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize October
    13  1999 as "Local Chamber of Commerce Month" in Pennsylvania and
    14  acknowledge the tremendous contributions that our local chambers
    15  of commerce make to our citizens and our communities.
