                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the duties of
     3     the Department of Military Affairs.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 702 of Title 51 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
     8  § 702.  Duties of department.
     9     The department shall have the power and its duty shall be:
    10         * * *
    11         (13)  To provide for an honor guard at the funeral of a
    12     resident of the Commonwealth if all of the following apply:
    13             (i)  The resident was a veteran of the armed forces
    14         of the United States who served in an armed conflict.
    15             (ii)  No veterans' organization can provide an honor

     1         guard for the funeral.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
