        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 4, 1998

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing May 1998 as "Foster Parent Recognition Month" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Foster children face difficult family circumstances
     4  and need the safety, security and love a stable foster family
     5  can provide; and
     6     WHEREAS, Over 142,000 foster families across the country
     7  dedicate themselves to providing foster children with the love
     8  and values that help prepare them for the rest of their lives;
     9  and
    10     WHEREAS, Numerous agencies work to increase public awareness
    11  of the needs of children in foster care and the enduring and
    12  valuable contribution of foster parents; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
    14  month of May 1998 as "Foster Parent Recognition Month" in
    15  Pennsylvania and urge all residents of this Commonwealth to

     1  share their talents and energies on behalf of children in foster
     2  care, foster parents and the professional staff working with
     3  them.
