        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JANUARY 22, 1998

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the Insurance Committee to investigate recent health
     2     insurance premium rate increases for health plans affecting
     3     senior citizens in south-central Pennsylvania.

     4     WHEREAS, Health insurance premium rates for health plans
     5  affecting senior citizens in south-central Pennsylvania have
     6  recently increased; and
     7     WHEREAS, Whether a valid rationale exists for these rate
     8  increases is unclear; and
     9     WHEREAS, It is important that senior citizens of this
    10  Commonwealth can rely on equitable and fairly calculated health
    11  insurance premium rates; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the
    13  Insurance Committee to investigate recent health insurance
    14  premium rate increases for health plans affecting senior
    15  citizens in south-central Pennsylvania and to recommend
    16  appropriate action; and be it further
    17     RESOLVED, That the Insurance Committee report its findings
    18  and recommendations to the House of Representatives as soon as

     1  possible.
