        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 2, 1997

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of April 1997 as "Community College Month"
     2     in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Community colleges provide significant educational
     4  opportunities that would otherwise not be available to the
     5  residents of this Commonwealth; and
     6     WHEREAS, Community colleges are the most practical
     7  alternative for many Pennsylvanians to commence a postsecondary
     8  education; and
     9     WHEREAS, All Pennsylvanians benefit to some degree from the
    10  availability of community colleges throughout this Commonwealth;
    11  therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
    13  1997 as "Community College Month" in Pennsylvania.
