                                     AN ACT

     1  Prohibiting certain banks, savings and loan associations and
     2     credit unions from charging transaction fees for automated
     3     teller machines.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6  Section 1.  Definitions.
     7     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
     8  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
     9  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    10     "Financial institution."  Any national bank, State bank,
    11  federally chartered savings bank, State-chartered savings bank,
    12  federally chartered savings and loan association, State-
    13  chartered credit union, State-chartered credit union and any
    14  entity that owns or operates an automated teller machine.
    15  Section 2.  Fees prohibited.
    16     No customer shall be liable to pay any fee or surcharge to


     1  any financial institution for an automated teller machine
     2  transaction.
     3  Section 3.  Effective date.
     4     This act shall take effect in 30 days.
