AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for penalties for driving while 3 operating privilege is suspended or revoked and for 4 subsequent convictions of certain offenses. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. Sections 1543(a) and 6503 of Title 75 of the 8 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read: 9 § 1543. Driving while operating privilege is suspended or 10 revoked. 11 (a) Offense defined.--Except as provided in subsection (b), 12 any person who drives a motor vehicle on any highway or 13 trafficway of this Commonwealth after the commencement of a 14 suspension, revocation or cancellation of the operating 15 privilege and before the operating privilege has been restored 16 [is guilty of] commits a summary offense and shall, upon 17 conviction, be sentenced: 18 (1) for a first offense, to pay a fine of $200[.];
1 (2) for a second offense, to pay a fine of $500 or to 2 imprisonment for not more than three months, or both; or 3 (3) for a third or subsequent offense, to pay a fine of 4 $1,500 or to imprisonment for not more than six months, or 5 both. 6 * * * 7 § 6503. Subsequent convictions of certain offenses. 8 Every person convicted of a second or subsequent violation of 9 any of the following provisions shall be sentenced to pay a fine 10 of not less than $200 nor more than $1,000 or to imprisonment 11 for not more than six months, or both: 12 Section 1501(a) (relating to drivers required to be 13 licensed). 14 [Section 1543 (relating to driving while operating 15 privilege is suspended or revoked).] 16 Section 3367 (relating to racing on highways). 17 [Section 3733 (relating to fleeing or attempting to elude 18 police officer).] 19 Section 3734 (relating to driving without lights to avoid 20 identification or arrest). 21 Section 3748 (relating to false reports). 22 Section 2.
