        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 3, 1996

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming the month of June 1996 as "Scleroderma Awareness
     2     Month" in this Commonwealth.

     3     WHEREAS, The health of the people of this Commonwealth is the
     4  foundation for a caring and productive society, and our future
     5  rests with our ability to find cures for and adequately treat
     6  individuals who are afflicted with a variety of illnesses; and
     7     WHEREAS, The United Scleroderma Foundation is a nonprofit
     8  organization dedicated to saving lives through scleroderma
     9  education and awareness and to diminishing suffering from this
    10  baffling disease through research, service, patient and family
    11  support nationwide; and
    12     WHEREAS, Hundreds of thousands of people are living with
    13  scleroderma and related conditions and continue to wait for a
    14  cure; and
    15     WHEREAS, The noble work of the United Scleroderma Foundation


     1  has provided us all with hope that some day this disease will be
     2  eradicated, and the foundation's efforts to educate and comfort
     3  those touched by scleroderma will be justly rewarded with a
     4  cure; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim the
     6  month of June 1996 as "Scleroderma Awareness Month" in this
     7  Commonwealth; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That residents of this Commonwealth be encouraged
     9  to recognize the seriousness of this disease and the meritorious
    10  work of the United Scleroderma Foundation to quiet its impact
    11  and find a cure.
