        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 23, 1996

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Proclaiming August 6, 1996, as "Atomic Veterans Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The National Association of Atomic Veterans (NAAV)
     4  is working to help veterans who were involved in atmospheric
     5  nuclear tests in Nevada and the South Pacific; and
     6     WHEREAS, NAAV, in order to help the veterans and their
     7  families gain medical treatment and disability compensation for
     8  what they consider radiation-caused illnesses, needs to locate
     9  all atomic soldiers; and
    10     WHEREAS, Anyone present at an atomic test is urged by the
    11  NAAV to contact the national headquarters at NAAV, P.O. Box
    12  4424, Salem, MA 01970-6424; and
    13     WHEREAS, The 51st Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and
    14  Nagasaki are on August 6 and 9, 1996, respectively; therefore be

     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim August
     3  6, 1996, as "Atomic Veterans Day" in Pennsylvania.
