        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 2, 1995

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating October 10, 1995, as "Northeast Philadelphia Police
     2     and Fire Appreciation Day."

     3     WHEREAS, The legislative power of this Commonwealth is vested
     4  in the Senate and the House of Representatives; and
     5     WHEREAS, Over 2,500 men and women in Northeast Philadelphia
     6  are charged with enforcing the laws of this Commonwealth and
     7  with protecting the citizens of Northeast Philadelphia from the
     8  perils of crime, fire and other emergencies; and
     9     WHEREAS, These brave men and women daily confront, often at
    10  great personal risk, unrelenting challenges to the safety and
    11  welfare of citizens of this Commonwealth; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Northeast (Philadelphia) Times and the Franklin
    13  Mills Mall jointly have designated October 10, 1995, as
    14  "Northeast Philadelphia Police and Fire Appreciation Day" and
    15  will hold an awards ceremony on that date in Northeast
    16  Philadelphia to honor their police officers and fire and
    17  emergency personnel; therefore be it


     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend these men
     2  and women for the fidelity and courage which they consistently
     3  exhibit in the performance of their duties; and be it further
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor their
     5  sacrifices and those of their families and loved ones; and be it
     6  further
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend the
     8  Northeast Times and the Franklin Mills Mall for recognizing
     9  these men and women for the many invaluable contributions they
    10  have made to the communities and people of Northeast
    11  Philadelphia; and be it further
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives and each of its
    13  members encourage the public to acknowledge with respect and
    14  honor the achievements of our law enforcement officers and fire
    15  and emergency personnel, both in their jobs and in the many
    16  community activities for which they so generously volunteer
    17  their time; and be it further
    18     RESOLVED, That October 10, 1995, be designated as "Northeast
    19  Philadelphia Police and Fire Appreciation Day."
