A RESOLUTION
1 Commemorating the week of September 18 through 22, 1995, as
2 "National Adult Day Care Week."
3 WHEREAS, Adult day-care centers are providing a viable
4 alternative to the overreliance on long-term institutional care
5 for older adults who are capable of living at home with the aid
6 of appropriate health care; and
7 WHEREAS, These centers provide community-based quality adult
8 day health care and give older persons the ability to maintain
9 personal independence and lead meaningful lives; and
10 WHEREAS, The Council Care Adult Day Services of Pittsburgh
11 has provided this much-needed alternative since 1983 and has
12 expanded to three facilities providing service for more than 110
13 older adults; and
14 WHEREAS, More than 3,000 centers nationwide will be
15 conducting an open house to show the public what adult day-care
16 services can provide; therefore be it
17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
1 week of September 18 through 22, 1995, as "National Adult Day
2 Care Week"; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
4 Council Care Adult Day Services of Pittsburgh on 12 years of
5 service.
