HOUSE RESOLUTION

        INTRODUCED BY WOZNIAK, PESCI, CORRIGAN, CAPPABIANCA, COLAIZZO,
           FICHTER, ROONEY, LAUGHLIN, REBER, BELARDI, HERMAN, GEIST,
           SCRIMENTI, HERSHEY, HENNESSEY, COLAFELLA, KENNEY, BELFANTI,
           YOUNGBLOOD, PISTELLA, KELLER, MIHALICH, SEMMEL AND
           RICHARDSON, FEBRUARY 28, 1995

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, FEBRUARY 28, 1995

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the Committee on Education of the House of
     2     Representatives in conjunction with the Tuition Account
     3     Program Advisory Board to study methods designed to assist
     4     elementary and secondary schools in facilitating
     5     participation in the Tuition Account Program and to recommend
     6     any legislation necessary to accomplish this goal.

     7     WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of this Commonwealth to
     8  foster higher education in order to provide well-educated
     9  citizens; and
    10     WHEREAS, As much as possible should be done to encourage
    11  residents of this Commonwealth to attend institutions of higher
    12  education; and
    13     WHEREAS, The Tuition Account Program established under the
    14  act of April 3, 1992 (P.L.28, No.11), known as the Tuition
    15  Account Program and College Savings Bond Act, was designed to
    16  further these goals, and participation in the Tuition Account
    17  Program should be fostered; therefore be it
    18     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the


     1  Committee on Education in conjunction with the Tuition Account
     2  Program Advisory Board to study methods and make recommendations
     3  designed to assist elementary and secondary schools in their
     4  facilitation of pupil participation in the Tuition Account
     5  Program, in particular, methods by which elementary and
     6  secondary schools would act as collectors of payments to the
     7  Tuition Account Program; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That the Committee on Education of the House of
     9  Representatives in conjunction with the Tuition Account Program
    10  Advisory Board recommend any legislation necessary to accomplish
    11  direct facilitation by elementary and secondary schools of this
    12  Commonwealth of participation in the Tuition Account Program;
    13  and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That the committee make a report of its findings
    15  and recommendations to the House of Representatives within six
    16  months of the passage of this resolution.
