AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for the regulation of the
3 placement of public telephones in municipalities.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 2916. Authority of municipalities.
9 Any municipality shall have the power to enact and enforce a
10 local ordinance regulating the placement and maintenance of
11 public telephones on its sidewalks. This ordinance may require
12 that applicants obtain a permit from the municipality for the
13 placement of a public telephone and may contain provisions
14 relating to fees, the renewal of permits and the suspension or
15 revocation of permits.
16 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
