AN ACT
1 Amending the act of July 29, 1953 (P.L.970, No.235), entitled
2 "An act authorizing the Governor of the Commonwealth of
3 Pennsylvania to execute on behalf of the Commonwealth a
4 compact with certain other States for the effective
5 prevention and control of forest fires and for mutual aid in
6 fighting forest fires," authorizing the admission of other
7 states into the compact; and making an editorial change.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. The introductory paragraph of section 1 and
11 section 3 of the act of July 29, 1953 (P.L.970, No.235),
12 referred to as the Middle Atlantic Interstate Forest Fire
13 Protection Compact Act, are amended to read:
14 Section 1. The Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
15 is hereby authorized and directed to execute a compact on behalf
16 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with any one or more of the
17 States of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and West
18 Virginia, and with such other states as may enter into the
19 compact legally joining therein, who may, by their legislative
1 bodies, so authorize a compact, in form substantially as
2 follows:

4 Section 3. The Secretary of [Forests and Waters]
5 Environmental CONSERVATION AND NATURAL Resources, or someone <--
6 designated by him, shall act as compact administrator for the
7 Commonwealth and represent the Commonwealth in the Middle
8 Atlantic Interstate Forest Fire Protection Compact.
9 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
