        ADOPTED, MARCH 16, 1993

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of March 1993 as "National Girl Scout
     2     Month" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, March 12, 1993, is the 81st anniversary of the
     4  founding of Girl Scouts of the United States of America, the
     5  largest voluntary organization for girls in the world with over
     6  three million members worldwide; and
     7     WHEREAS, Girl Scouting is vital to the social, intellectual
     8  and cultural development of its members, enabling them to
     9  develop self-esteem, leadership skills and community awareness;
    10  and
    11     WHEREAS, The contemporary Girl Scout program reflects the

     1  enduring values and standards that have been part of the
     2  organization since 1912; it also has proven itself to be a
     3  highly flexible organization by addressing the special and
     4  unique situations of girls in the 1990's; and
     5     WHEREAS, Members of the Girl Scouts have made important
     6  contributions to the social, economic and cultural development
     7  of Pennsylvania, the United States and the world; therefore be
     8  it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, in recognition
    10  of the important role Girl Scouting plays in the lives of its
    11  members, designate the month of March 1993 as "National Girl
    12  Scout Month" in Pennsylvania and urge all citizens to support
    13  the activities and endeavors of the Girl Scouts.
