                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of December 2, 1992 (P.L.741, No.113), entitled
     2     "An act providing a comprehensive plan for health care for
     3     uninsured children; providing for medical education
     4     assistance; making appropriations; and making repeals,"
     5     providing for enrollment of prospective primary health care
     6     practitioners in medical schools and osteopathic medical
     7     colleges.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  The act of December 2, 1992 (P.L.741, No.113),
    11  known as the Children's Health Care Act, is amended by adding a
    12  section to read:
    13  Section 1305.  Medical schools and osteopathic medical colleges.
    14     (a)  General rule.--A medical school or osteopathic medical
    15  college which receives State funding shall enroll at least 5% of
    16  its applicants who contractually agree to serve as primary
    17  health care practitioners in designated medically underserved
    18  areas.
    19     (b)  Regulations.--The Department of Health shall promulgate


     1  regulations necessary to administer and enforce this section.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
