AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for the 6 standardized driver-education program. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 1519.1 of the act of March 10, 1949 10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, 11 amended January 24, 1966 (1965 P.L.1506, No.528), is amended to 12 read: 13 Section 1519.1. Standardized Driver-Education Program.-- 14 (a) The Department of [Public Instruction] Education shall 15 establish, for operation in the public school system of the 16 Commonwealth, a standardized driver-education program in the 17 safe operation of motor vehicles, which shall include 18 instruction on the provisions of 18 Pa.C.S. §§ 6307 (relating to 19 misrepresentation of age to secure liquor or malt or brewed
1 beverages), 6308 (relating to purchase, consumption, possession 2 or transportation of liquor or malt or brewed beverages), 6310.3 3 (relating to carrying a false identification card), 6310.4 4 (relating to restriction of operating privileges), 6310.5 5 (relating to predisposition evaluation), 6310.6 (relating to 6 definitions) and 6313 (relating to special information), 7 available to all public high school pupils and all high school 8 pupils attending nonpublic high schools. 9 (b) The Department of [Public Instruction] Education shall 10 assist school districts throughout the Commonwealth in the 11 functioning of such program by-- 12 (1) Preparation, publication and free distribution of 13 driver-education instructional material to insure a more 14 complete understanding of the duties of motor vehicle operators; 15 (2) Making such rules and regulations as may be necessary to 16 carry out such program. 17 (c) Annual expenditures of the Department of [Public 18 Instruction] Education from the Motor License Fund for (1) 19 salaries and expenses of employes of the Department of [Public 20 Instruction] Education essential to the program; (2) purchase of 21 visual training aids and psychophysical testing equipment; and 22 (3) costs of preparation, publication and distribution of 23 driver-education instructional material, for assistance to their 24 driver-education programs, shall not exceed three (3) per centum 25 of the annual total amount paid by the Commonwealth to all 26 school districts, or joint school organizations, on account of 27 standardized driver-education programs. 28 Section 2.
