                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating June 7, 1992, as "Cancer Survivor's Day" throughout
     2     this Commonwealth.

     3     WHEREAS, On Sunday, June 7, 1992, Americans across the
     4  country will be participating in an annual event celebrating
     5  life; and
     6     WHEREAS, This day is designated to acknowledge the six
     7  million cancer survivors living in the United States, as well as
     8  the positive advances which have been made in methods of early
     9  detection, cancer treatment and research; and
    10     WHEREAS, The quality of life for those with cancer histories,
    11  other life-threatening diseases and disabilities remains
    12  compromised as long as quality, affordable and comprehensive
    13  health insurance is inaccessible; and
    14     WHEREAS, In addition to National Cancer Survivor's Day being


     1  a celebration of life, the day is a national effort to draw
     2  attention and public awareness to the overwhelming problems
     3  facing those in need of obtaining health insurance and equal
     4  access to health care in the United States; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June 7,
     6  1992, as "Cancer Survivor's Day" throughout this Commonwealth
     7  and encourage all citizens to unite with a common voice which
     8  will both affirm life and highlight the issues of survivorship
     9  in the 1990's.
