                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring the Commonwealth's support of our "National Day of
     2     Prayer" on May 7, 1992.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pledge of Allegiance to our flag describes us as
     4  "one Nation, under God ..."; and
     5     WHEREAS, Our coins proudly proclaim "In God We Trust"; and
     6     WHEREAS, Our forefathers unashamedly acknowledged their
     7  dependency upon a "Supreme Creator"; and
     8     WHEREAS, History has recorded Benjamin Franklin's request for
     9  "Divine Guidance" over the deliberations of the Constitutional
    10  Convention in Philadelphia; and
    11     WHEREAS, The Congress of these United States and the
    12  Pennsylvania General Assembly continue that tradition of
    13  beginning all sessions with a prayer and the Pledge of
    14  Allegiance; and


     1     WHEREAS, The signs of moral decay rampant within our land
     2  portray the ills of a "Godless Society"; and
     3     WHEREAS, May 7, 1992, has been designated as a "National Day
     4  of Prayer"; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lend its
     6  support to this call for direction and unity in prayer; and be
     7  it further
     8     RESOLVED, That this prayer for a moral rebirth throughout our
     9  Nation be expressed from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. on Thursday,
    10  May 7, 1992.
