        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 10, 1991

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating June 15, 1991, as "Operation Desert Storm Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, United States and coalition armed forces have
     4  achieved remarkable success in defeating Iraqi Military Forces
     5  and ousting them from Kuwait; and
     6     WHEREAS, American men and women placed themselves at risk to
     7  stem the tides of aggression and further the cause of democracy;
     8  and
     9     WHEREAS, This victory advances the cause of peace and justice
    10  and sets back the forces of tyranny and oppression; and
    11     WHEREAS, In an effort to liberate Kuwait, all of the
    12  servicemen and servicewomen who served in coalition forces were
    13  subject to hardship, peril, extreme danger and loss of life; and

     1     WHEREAS, Many of the members of our armed forces who served
     2  in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm were
     3  residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim June 15,
     5  1991, as "Operation Desert Storm Day" in Pennsylvania in
     6  recognition of the military victory in the Persian Gulf and in
     7  honor of the participation of the United States Armed Forces in
     8  this accomplishment.
