AN ACT 1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania 2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for aggravated 3 assault. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 2702(a) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 2702. Aggravated assault. 9 (a) Offense defined.--A person is guilty of aggravated 10 assault if he: 11 (1) attempts to cause serious bodily injury to another, 12 or causes such injury intentionally, knowingly or recklessly 13 under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the 14 value of human life; 15 (2) attempts to cause or intentionally, knowingly or 16 recklessly causes serious bodily injury to a police officer,
1 firefighter, county adult probation or parole officer, county 2 juvenile probation or parole officer, State or county 3 corrections officer or an agent of the Pennsylvania Board of 4 Probation and Parole in the performance of duty or to an 5 employee of an agency, company or other entity engaged in 6 public transportation, while in the performance of duty; 7 (3) attempts to cause or intentionally or knowingly 8 causes bodily injury to a police officer, firefighter or 9 county adult probation or parole officer, county juvenile 10 probation or parole officer, State or county corrections 11 officer or an agent of the Pennsylvania Board of Probation 12 and Parole in the performance of duty; 13 (4) attempts to cause or intentionally or knowingly 14 causes bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon; or 15 (5) attempts to cause or intentionally or knowingly 16 causes bodily injury to a teaching staff member, school board 17 member, other employee or student of any elementary or 18 secondary publicly-funded educational institution, any 19 elementary or secondary private school licensed by the 20 Department of Education or any elementary or secondary 21 parochial school while acting in the scope of his or her 22 employment or because of his or her employment relationship 23 to the school. 24 * * * 25 Section 2.
